Shelter Gallery
Shelter was founded in early 2022 by a local visual artist and her partner, a local coffee roaster/cafe owner. The gallery is located in Dumaguete City and was a product of two different passions with a goal to create a safe space, not only for the art but for the artists themselves. Its main priority is not only providing a location for showcasing art, giving artists a space for experimentation and exploration, but also to slowly introduce art to the local community, in the hopes of creating a less intimidating and more welcoming environment– a part the cafe and speakeasy in the back really helps with.
Shelter attempts to introduce new artists, consistently opening exhibitions once a month. Since opening its doors in early February, Shelter has had 7 different exhibitions featuring artists– old and new. Shelter hopes to inspire the local community and provide the much needed avenue for local artists to step up and step out.
